Self Reflection

Self Reflection

In this paper I would like to write about my positive experience that I got from LSC 2103 which called Academic Reading and Writing 2. In this course I have learned many things which may benefit my reading and writing skills.
The best part in this course is learning how to write in different ways than usual which is summarize what you read in few words by my own words. Also I have learned how to cite the article that I summarized. As soon as I go through this course I noticed a big improvement in my writing and reading skills. The skills that have been improved are how to organize my steps in writing an essay, report, or summarize articles. So from this course I learned what topic I have to choose then what sources is worth to use like academic references.  According to these steps my grade have been improved which motivate me to work harder in next assignment.
In the future I will use these concepts to show up my reading and writing skills in order to get a perfect performance in my writing and reading by following Mr. Gregory Vrhovnik method. I faced some challenges in this course in reading and writing skills because in previous years I wasn't read and write that much and I wasn’t consider the importance of these skills but when I took this course I have been noticed the importance and I started challenging myself to write and read more and I am always trying to be in a right track.
I would like to fix my mistakes through the feedback that I got from Mr. Gregory Vrhovnik. He taught me a lot by telling me what my mistakes, if its grammar mistakes, spelling mistakes, or punctuation. So through these mistakes I can focus more in my writing and always search for the right way to write before I start mention it on my paper.
I want to thank and appreciate Mr. Gregory Vrhovnik who taught me how to read and write well in order to improve my skills. Also I recommend each student to take this course seriously and learn as much as he can. From my experience this course worth a lot and finally I will do by best in future 2103 section.


Fossil fuels: Importance and problems
The life would not be in existence if there is no energy, otherwise billions of people will be hungry, so the use of fossil fuels as a major source of energy. As the word suggests, ‘fossil’ which consists of the “remains of organisms preserved in rocks within the earth's crust consisting of high carbon and hydrogen content”, generates the energy in various forms (About.com, 2013).

The most popular forms are including coal, oil and natural gas. With the increasing of world population, it is showing that fossil fuel use will grow by 2010, and it will decrease to half by 2025 and 2030. However, this is worrying as the increase in population will be reduced by the limited amount of fossil fuels which continue to less, making it impossible to meet the global demand of energy. As such, different sources of converting energy without the use of fossil fuels have and should be included by both developed and developing countries. Although not used to their full potential, this different kinds sources of energy, such as nuclear power and geothermal energy (Alternative energy, 2013).

Most of the countries they have contained fossil fuels the main source of energy, because of the low cost of use by converting natural resources to energy. The problems are its limited and it is none renewable.  So the earth can only store a limited amount of coal ,oil and natural gas, The USA should not totally focus and depend on fossils as there will be  not enough for long-term.
Some of the major environmental problems caused by these non-renewable energy sources include air pollution, global warming, and acid rain. Global warming results from too much CO2, a greenhouse gas that is released when burning fossil fuels, released into the air. In his analysis, Biello (2013) estimates that emission of CO2 has increased by 300% since 1950, with last year’s total of to 6.2 billion tons. The result in increased carbon dioxide concentration by 29% above the pre-industrial level, it is anticipated that global temperatures will also increase by 1 to 3.5 degrees Celsius. Finally, the earth’s weather system will result in flood cities, increased storm damage, and diminished food production (Fueleconomy.com, 2013).

The substitute renewable of resources of energy is the only solutions to the above environmental problems of fossil fuels. But first, individual effort such as installing solar panels and switching off electronic appliances when not in use will help in reducing the consumption. Basically, there are efficient technologies that convert sunlight, wind, nuclear power and earth’s heat into energy. These clean sources of energy are estimated to reduce carbon emissions by 80%. Top on the list of the clean sources include geothermal and nuclear energy, are also environmentally-friendly and almost inexhaustible. Even though 1997 meeting of 160 country governments in Kyoto Japan to set goal and targets to lower carbon emissions, many countries, including the US have not ratified this Kyoto Protocol (Biello, 2013).
Most countries have involved geothermal energy because it is clean and inexpensive. Even though the technology is having been in use in choosing geothermal resources for the last 50 years, countries like the United States lag behind in tapping their geothermal resources. Environmentally, geothermal power plants have minimum impact, releasing little or no CO2. Of the many known areas of geothermal activity in the US, few have been used, CA and Los Alamos, NM (SEED, 2013). If exploration of all the sites began a few years ago, 49,000 megawatts of geothermal electricity would be generated by 2030. However, coal is the preferred source of electricity generation because it meets the requirements of being relatively cheap, easily supplied from the source, has minimum pollution and environmental trouble, and is safe from accident scenarios (Broder, 2013).
According to Office of Fossil Energy (2012), use of Nuclear power which is considered as largely carbon-free energy source will in the long-run help to phase out fossil fuels. In the US, the December 2008 372 gigawatts of nuclear generating capacity has unfortunately been out by problems, as dangerous unused removal, safety concerns, lack of fuel and change of technologies. But with the increased concern for climate change, government supports, high natural gas prices, interest in nuclear power has been revived. So many companies are              re-designing nuclear plants into more standardized versions that are easy to control, cheaper to install and less to happen accidents. Although close 1500 new reactors will be required by 2050 to help in reducing global emissions, speeding up the construction of the plants (that takes 10-15 years for a single plant), is not economically possible. America estimate the first construction license will be approved in 2020 while the first plant will not begin operating till 2020 or beyond.

UK can cope with solar superstorm +++



The Royal RAEng predict that a Solar superstorm world have serious effects on UK, but would not be catastrophic .
General satellite system including GPS, aviation system, avionics and communication would need to rely on backup system to continue.
Solar storm are commen and can affect space craft electronics and radio.
For example; the Carrington solar storm of 1859 caused widespread atmosphere changes and around the world.
In point they figured that National Grid has been in a good shape, however the big solar storm could heat in equipment to blown transformers, but they said that contingencies have problems because of the terrestrial weather.
According to this satellites will be affected also the experience might be shorten the lifetime of sub-system and components.
Keith Ryden said that satellites nowadays are designed to be flexible with space weather.
GPS timing should have a backup oscillation to commend the mobile phone network in UK.
RAEng recommends that UK space weather Board would set up by government to response space weather issue

The Houbaras and Falcon Hunters
The number of Houbaras has increased because of Houbaras area, so that they can breed safely. The hunting by the Falcons are under pressure from poachers and un-legal habits practice. The people have changed the way of hunting by the Falcons but Falcons are still in demand. The IFH has succeed the number of releasing birds to increase the awareness of supportable hunting. The IFHC’s worked with a school to teach them the Education future hunter. The number of Houbara’s has been decline because of the un-legal hunting and environment loss. The IFHC made a survey from the Falcon hunters to show the result.

Is Mars key to our origins?



All the discoveries were looking if the Mars is our root or not, however Nasa’s engineers trying to find methods to reach red planet and finally they succeed. The Viking duties were prepared with on-board labs that mentioned experiment on Martian soil, and they got a positive consequence, that showed living germs. Others found Mars not life, so they trying to keep them a life which will increase the profit. This information that the scientist found could help the human and have roles for alien duration. So alien have geographies on the earth and most experiment said that Mars it closely to the earth and its faster because it smaller than the earth planet, So Mars it costing a fact of gas atmosphere.

Back to where civilization begins:

The UK archaeological Robert Killick started investigating a Bronze Age archaeological site in the Thi Qar province of Iraq, in 1978.The site yielded new information about how ancient people lived and were buried- but is only a small percentage of possible Iraqi sites (less than 1%).
Killick and fellow archaeologist are returning to Iraq after a 20 year break of no new investigations. Dr. Killick met some companies in Dubai to fund the project and it will cost 10 million DH.The site Tell Khaiber the innovation Sumerians lived in before 5000 years.
It is safe place to work away from conflict and archaeologists hope the contents of the rooms will show building function. Iraq had the best archaeologists in 1960s and 1970s, British school, German Institute and Italian Culture Center had the permanent institutes in Baghdad.
The plan works with international team and Iraq archaeologists.
Work on analysis and publication will continue through a year at project in University



Water in Yemen
There is a place where woman and children wait and hold cans and bottles to get water as much as they can take to the home. They so this because the most of the women can’t pay the fees for water. The political situation is increasing the problem of dropping the water to the bottom of the important things; the government was worrying about Issue will force to people immigrate from their country because it’s so dangerous to live without enough water. To stop this issue they will use irrigation technology and random digging is the major factor that threat underground water. That the international aid wont effect the water saving a lot it should be from the government. However, Yemen is trying her best to protect her citizens from the poor water disaster.
